About Best Possible Self Counselling

Our Approach

What we have come to learn is that all people big and small go through periods in their life that are hard, where they feel uncertain about the future and where they don’t think they have the ability to make the changes they need. They may have tried everything, or they haven’t had the energy to try anything at all as it just feels to overwhelming. 


What we have seen in abundance is people (children, adults, families) overcome the unbearable, realize they had the resilience in them after all and begin to live a life that feels calmer, has connection and happiness. Our goal is to have our clients walk away with the tools they need to manage the hard moments life brings. So often we are taught to push away our emotions or distract ourselves by choosing unhealthy coping mechanisms. At BPS we believe in acknowledging and accepting our emotions and using strategies that support our overall mental, emotional and physical health. 

 

We have training in a variety of therapeutic approaches. These include Solution focused therapy, Dialectical Behavioral therapy, Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness and Compassion-focused therapy.

Denae offers clinical support to children and youth ages 5-18, parents and individuals. Her goal is to provide each person with a safe place where they can receive compassion and skills to help them navigate life's challenges.

Life inevitably comes with discomfort. It is Denae's goal to support people of all ages to manage those discomfort

Denae offers clinical support to children and youth ages 5-18, parents and individuals. Her goal is to provide each person with a safe place where they can receive compassion and skills to help them navigate life's challenges.

Life inevitably comes with discomfort. It is Denae's goal to support people of all ages to manage those discomforts and continue to find joy and connection in their life. 

Denae specializes in supporting children and parents pre and post ADHD and Anxiety diagnosis. She weaves psychoeducation into her therapeutic approach to increase understanding and compassion for themselves and their loved ones. 

Denae also incorporates Dialectical Behavior Therapy into her practice to increase acceptance, mindfulness, interpersonal relationships and tolerance of life's challenges.

 With almost 20 years of experience supporting youth and families, Michelle works with youth (age 12 and up), families, and adults, offering compassionate support grounded in connection and collaboration.

With warmth, curiosity, and a conversational approach to counselling, Michelle strives to co-create a safe and supportive space to explore life’s challenges at your own pace. She believes that healing doesn't always have to be heavy and often incorporates gentle humor to build connection, ease tension, and bring a sense of lightness to the therapeutic process.

Michelle draws from an integrative framework that weaves together narrative therapy, mindfulness practices, and a person-centered, trauma-informed, and anti-oppressive approach.
